On library etiquette

Get off your fucking cell phone when you’re at the library. Don’t answer it when other people, which is everybody else, are trying to work. That’s it. I kinda thought that was common sense, but it happens every day I’m here.

Yes, I get tired of those stupid fucks that disrupt both the library and the computer labs. Especially the ones that don’t put their phones on vibrate and it rings numerous times. You would think that they would learn after the first time. I know I get embarassed when I don’t put my phone on vibrate and it rings in the computer labs.

It never fails. When I am in a bad mood and want some peace and quiet, that’s when I encounter at the library: screaming brats, loud cell phone talkers, people with some sort of upper respiratory infection.

I think most people have some degree or other of brain damage and absolute quiet drives them insane.

Add to that the idea that libraries want to attract more patronage by turning themselves into playgrounds for children instead of quiet places for reading, research, and reflection, and you have a recipe for my going bonkers.
